Brilliant

Words just can’t describe the riding conditions North of the OVT today.
So I just use one………Brilliant (Just like beer in a bottle)

XRCass and JB answered the call to help FTAL out. 8.00am, on the dot, booted, coffeed and ready.
The dirt was damp and stacks of grip. Starting with someone nicely levelling the whoops on the track that follows Wanneroo Road. It looked like we were the second group of bikes to use some of these tracks since Summer started. The dirt bike gods had cleared the track of everything but the Orbweaver Spiders. Big as dinner plates. XRCass explained the sound they made when they hit your helmet but didn’t volunteer to be first bike through.
We covered a mixed section of new and old tracks staying clear of the beach and National Park. We agreed that you could lead a group of riders through this section all day and most would be happy.
Feeling fit…ish the group travelled north heading towards a couple of hill climbs.
The first hill presented more of a challenge than expected. I managed to talk JB into getting a few action shots, unaware that he hasn’t been riding dirt bikes for quite as long as me. JB’s bike had a quick laydown, halfway up the hill. JB gently laying the bike on its side and was left standing next to it.
XRCass had a go with the 650, I’m pretty sure the hill flinched a little in fear when the big XR headed it’s way. There’s no substitute for horsepower and momentum. Just don’t be the cameraman standing in front of the beast. (The XR not Cass)
Today I found that the little hill (Crusty Photo 5171) is now called “The Widow Maker” This is the first time every rider in the group has made it to the top of this hill. Skills!
Some awesome tracks to link us back with the fuel station for body and bike refuelling.
XRCass took the lead, now the spiders had been cleared. If you have ridden with Cass, you will understand that he doesn’t use a twist throttle to control speed like most riders. Cass has a switch, stop and flat out. The closer he got to the OVT the faster he rode. On a modern enduro bike XRCass would be fast, on an XR he’s insanely quick.
JB followed us all day ring tinging the two stroke through everything, only letting us know about his short experience on a dirt bike. Wow.
Riding like this mid Summer...brilliant!

The beer at the OVT is the best…….just brilliant!
Thanks lads.
Brilliant ride.
