Dawn to Dusk Adventure Ride
Dawn to Dusk Adventure Ride
18-02-2017 Riders – Tommy, MickKal and Acid Gloves Eddy ROTD – Tommy SOTD – N/A Tommy made the call for an Adventure ride from Sawyers to Dwellinup and Quindanning and only the brave few turned up, Ten Thousand Trails Tommy was out front, Eddy was in the middle and I was sweep for the day. Condition wise it was an odd combination of dust and puddles. Most people don’t like Acid Gloves but for a summer ride we found that he was a welcome addition because he never seemed to kick up much dust. The ride started at the Sawyers Servo and started on some familiar local access tracks and then we started to zig zag our way towards Dwelingup. Tommy picked some great tracks that were flat, flowing and great fun on the Dr650, and deserves the ROTD for his leading skills. The tracks as we came near Dwelingup were the highlight of the ride. Had some lunch and refuelled in dwelingup around 2:30 and then we pressed on towards Quindanning, unfortunately when it came to the point where we had to cross the river it became obvious that we would need a submarine to go any further. By this stage it was starting to getting a bit late so it was time for plan B, find the bitumen and head home. Sounds easy but we both managed to get misled by our gps units for a while which for some reason were trying to take us home via Collie. Problem was sorted and we arrived in Harvey around 5:30. There was no time left for a beer but we had a quick Gaterade and some snakes at the servo and then high tailed it for home. All up the ride was a massive 558klms for the day which included 340klms of dirt. Awesome ride. |
