Red Dog Adventure ride

13/05/2017

Riders: MickKal, Pounce, Jacko, WR Ross, WrfPaul and Tommy

The colour of my trace on my GPS for this ride was red and the route ended up looking a lot like the head of a dog so hence the title of Red Dog Adventure ride. I posted the ride on the PAR site and on the Crusty site and ended up with a good show from both Groups, we had 5 Crustys and up 8 guys from the Perth Adventure Riders.
We started from the Kingsley Dome just after 8 and hit the dirt at the back of Wangara about 10 klms later, it was good to see the shire had finally cleaned up some of the rubbish that people have been dumping out there. Straight away we could all see the dust was still a problem and with a big group like this the going was going to be slow.

We proceeded through to the Bullsbrook Tavern to Pick up WRF Paul which then made a total of 12 riders. Then we headed up into the hills to hit some trails, after a bit we stopped for a chat and a head count and strangely somehow we now had 13 riders! It turns out that one of the PAR guys was running late and just joined in along the way somewhere.
Further along we stopped for an optional hill climb down to the river and back, about 6 of us had a crack including Jacko on his trusty XT, I had a go at crossing the river which was turned out to be no big deal and one PAR riders was pretty happy about getting to the top as it was his third ride to the hill but only his first time to attempt the climb.

Then we kicked on to some familiar trails thru the NE hills, did a bit of single and then headed down to Bindoon way. WrfPaul and one other left us there and we headed to Gin Gin and down the Power line track. The PAR guys really seem to like the Power line track for some reason, I was the lead rider and one guy kept overtaking me which was a bit weird, but he seemed to be getting right into that section of track so it was all good.
We arrived with out injury at the OVT which was also good. WRF Paul was there already with a beer in hand and most of the riders stopped in to have one or two to wash down the dust and have a chat. All in all a top day for a ride.
