"37 degrees and Eddie" Tommy, Hooters and Eddie the stooge. Tommy was keen for a ride and I couldn't say no. Eddie is sneakily trying to beat my ride tally. It was going to be hot as balls and there were only three of us so the big bikes were chosen. Tommy was leading and suggested sawyers to bannister and back- sweet! The three of us met early, 7am arranged, but the offer of a cooked breaky was too good to turn down so Tommy rocked up fat and happy at 7:15! A few man hugs and we were on our way, steady steady as we didn't need drama and everyone knows how good Eddie is when the shit hits the fan. The early morning wasn't hot but we were both dressed light and having a ball. Tommy dodged most of the tight single track, due to age heat and numbers! So nice flowing tracks, dirt roads and some pretty open bike tracks. By the time we skirted metro's it was starting to heat up, Tommy missed most of the whoops, but the unavoidable few were not much fun on the old man bike. Tommy was riding like a 40yr old on the "DR" but the bike gods chucked a couple of curve balls and he slammed thru a 4wd hole bigger than Texas and had a lay down- just before a tree, which looked very big and hard from my view. A bit of a breather and onward to bannister, 10:30am and 37 degrees. It felt warm when we stopped but pretty good when riding. We had a cool drink and a bite and were back on the bikes shortly after 11am. Tommy noticed his exhaust baffle has gone so we had a half arsed look for it as far as the Texas incident, and then gave up and smashed on. The tracks and roads were open so the pace was up and were back to the sawyers area about 1:30 we took a couple of pics, bloody Eddie trying to show off for the camera- Know you're place! The token kiwi is still one point your senior. 2 o'clock and we were outside the pub with no beer (dodgy intel!!) they've got a bottle-o but no pub sales, yet, shouldn't be long. So we diverted to the Helena valley pub for the debrief. Great day, the rain started just as we arrived at the pub and we got none of the heavy falls some areas got. A bit dusty and a touch warm but a great day with no drama and no tow starts. 2 rides in December for me- a first for sure, but that's me for the season unless we get some summer rain, its boat weather! Thanks Tommy and Eddie see ya'll at the Royal
