Report by Col.

Posting a ride to the Lano time trial area really brings the numbers out. 18 riders including 5 new players turned up for a top day in the saddle. Pete and I pulled into the car park nice and early to find Craig bogged down to the axles. H was right behind and went straight into recovery action. It took some effort but he pulled him free. In the mean time Daza pulled up behind them and ended up in the same situation. H to the rescue again.

While getting booted up, the Ranger, Mr Ian Anderson turned up to check our regos and pass on some important information regarding the use of the area by dirt bikes. He explained that he watches the site and knew we would be there. He was pretty happy that we had taken the initiative to ensure all of our bikes and riders are licensed while riding on the tracks north of Lano. He asked for our support with the matter and we asked for his on our site. He will send us further information. He stated he only wanted to ensure bikes were registered; he wasn't interested in if they complied to Police regulations (indicators, mirrors etc.) I don't think he could have come and spoken to us at a better time considering all the recent discussions on this website.

After a late start we were away with H leading the way. We travelled along the main Wedge track up to the first sentry post and then veered right to follow the meandering two wheel tracks up to the look out and on around to the water tank . There a few gotcha's along this section with some steep drop offs and trails that change direction without a whole lot of notice. Deets experienced this first hand and as I dropped over a sharp left hander I spotted him face down alongside his bike in some scattered shrubs. SOTD buddy - Well done.

One of the new boys also had an off not too far from home on the way home( More details to follow once I have them).

After the tracks turn into those lovely fast flowing wide trails, the gas was turned on. H was still up front and everyone was spread out over a few K's. I could see the guy in front but couldn't get near him. I had the 450 in top gear and had it wound out on the rev limiter. 10 - 15 k's of this and it was time for a regroup and to head back to the time trial area.

9 riders gave the stop watch a go today . Jay525 and Deets both managed an impressive 2 min and 11 sec with Sheildsy only 2 sec behind then both. A lot of the other times were around the 2 - 20 and up. Although Gazza's time was 2 min 26 sec, he thrilled the other riders with screaming across the line like a man possessed, up the hill on the other side and taking off skyward like he had wings. Top stuff fellows.

After all the excitement we took a leisurely ride over to Wedge to get the compulsory beach shot. 4 of the boys decided to head on the extra 45 k's to Cervantes and really make a day of it. The rest of us headed back to Lano to find a heap of 4 x 4's and a few bikes coming the other way. A few of the boys had to transfer fuel from the bikes with bigger tanks. This particular ride a good one but we don't go near a fuel stop so it is necessary to carry a few litres in the back pack.

Another top Crusty ride.

RANGER IAN ANDERSON DROPPED BY TO TALK TO THE CRUSTYS ABOUT HAVING LICENSED BIKES AND WHERE NOT TO RIDE.

THE WEDGE BEACH SHOT - DO THESE GUYS RIDE THEIR BIKES BACKWARDS?

MAYBE THEY DO!!!!
