Report by Col.

A ride was called late in the week to head out to the Pounce Lines. 5 regulars and one newbie fronted for a quiet ride along the Power Lines and a bit of Pounce exploring through some uncharted trails. Roger led the way out and I rode sweep nursing a shoulder injury.

Not 5 minutes into the ride, Steve came down after becoming victim to a rather large water rut on a hill decent. Only slightly shaken he got back to his feet fired up the DRZ and was on his way again. A couple of K's down at a regroup I asked Tony If he was OK as he had blood all over his face. Apparently a bush had whipped him in the face and caused a few abrasions. "I'm fine" he said and we were off again. Bloody tough men these endure riders!!!!!

After covering the length of the line, Roger dropped back into the pack and Pounce rode up front searching for some new trails. Although most of the new trails were not too challenging, they were fast, interesting and without too much cap rock. On one such trail I came across all the bikes stopped and one man down. It was on a section of that hard packed greasy mud with a nice green tinge of moss growing over the top. The type of surface where a small amount of extra throttle results in the back wheel trying to pass the front wheel and there is nothing the rider can do about it! Roger was the man down. The marks on the track showed where things had gone wrong and where the bike dug in on threw him over the bars. He was back on his feet but the pain on his face indicated more than a bruised ego.

Roger tried to continue on the ride however after a few short k's came off again in similar circumstances and decided to take the tar home. That's the stack of the day award to you my friend.

We soldiered on withput him and covered a good size loop of around 100 k's. Steve rode down the rear of the pack most of the ride and Mick gave a hand keeping an eye on him and making sure he made it over the difficult stuff. Mick did a top job today looking after a lot of corners and helping both Steve and Tony whenever they required assistance. That's the true CQ spirit buddy - Good stuff.

After rejoining the Powerline for the last few k's of rock and wash outs, Steve also decided to take the tar back into town as he said he was completely stuffed by this point. I am not sure but we might need a girly boy award if this type of behavior continues!!!!!!! LOL. Pounce picked up the prestigious ROTD award for his continued efforts in finding in new trails. He laughed and said he didn't want the award when I nominated him but how many guys do we have throwing their hands up to improve our days rides for us. A day with WCS cost about the price of a new set of rubber on your bike. A day with CQ cost nothing and often there is not a lot of difference in them!! Well done big fellow and keep up the good work.
