Seven hard as nails Crustys turned up for Pounce's Birthday ride. The weather had been forecast for rain, wind, hail and thunder, perfect conditions for riding. No "Legend" or "Crusty to the Core" riders to be seen".

Pounce lead off with Adrian sweeping. As soon as we hit the trail off the bitumen there was water, lots of water. Hooters popped a wheely through any puddle on the track no matter what size. We regrouped, Hooters and Lefty wanted to try out a challenging hill climb, Dazza decided he wanted in, the other four decided to take the girly way to the next meet-up point. The engines went cold waiting for the extreme riders, finally turning up with Dazza stating he got stuck half way up. Dazza shouting through his helmet "there was no traction on that hill, it took three of us to push my bike up".

We carried on through the normal type terrain and the Pounceline Loop. Choko had a little liedown on the corner where Pounce and ColB have previously gone down, although Choko did make it around the corner....

Hooters would usually mark each corner as he starts up the back and makes his way to the front by the next corner. I learnt fairly early on to drop back when he took off. Rule of Thumb is "the larger the gravel the bigger the gap". Hooters and Choko were having a game of Roost, I think Hooters won. Hooters reply to Choko was "bring it on MoFo"!

By the time we hit the creek it was pissing down. Two riders decided to give their bikes a wash, (guess who??) and the rest of us went the girly route again along the trail that parallels the creek. At one point Hooters wheelied the width of the creek in a fairly wide part and a good wheel depth. We fell over laughing with astonishment. Lefty gave his bike a big wash and had trouble starting and running smooth after that.

Once we hit the bitumen section at the start of the powerlines track, Pounce decided to head for the Lakes down the road, he said "its my birthday and I can do what I want", the rest of the silly buggers followed the dirt home. Good on Tom for putting his KLX through its paces. Hooter and I came across Tom next to a big puddle. Tom states "I did'nt think the puddle looked very deep". As I followed him the bike was spitting out a bit of steam from the exhaust.

Great ride on a Friday, better than a good day at work, whatever the weather!
