After the recent rains I was keen to get out into the bush and say goodbye to dust.
I volunteered to ride sweep because I knew all the tracks would be wet.
Six players turned up for the long run East. We were all raring to go , when someone locked their keys in the car. (shall be named later).
As none of us had the right background or gear to break in, we decided to ride instead and worry about it over a few beers when we got back.
We headed East from the Pines .Sand was nice and damp for a change. Great little run thanks to Jackos gps.
As soon as we got to the foothills, I realized my big mistake; The dust had not gone and I was sweeping.
We found a new route to the hills, thanks to last weekend , bumping into a local young guy on a quad who has a farm in the area.
He volunteered to show us a short cut and came back fully kitted up in boots , shorts ,helmet ( and a KX 450).
After following him for a while (or trying) ; my suspicion is that when he came out of the womb , his dad put him on a motorbike.
Anyhow , armed with info , this found our way into lovely hills gravel country.
Not long into the ride we bumped into another rider .Deja Vu !!
Wayne appeared on his monster ktm, as he did in the episode of Jackos Dusty Dash.
So now we had seven.
One of the new guys (Bruce) had a GPS with some local tracks programmed in. He volunteered to lead for a while. Worked out well , as we rode a few great tracks some nice hills and eventually got back to the highway.
We knew fuel may be an issue for those without big tanks or auxiliaries, and thought we had it pretty right ,except for Mark on the 250 ktm oiler .It run out 2ks short of the servo .Luckily the Trusty Husky managed to tow it to the bowser.
Bruce somehow to coaxed his Husaberg the last 2ks on air .
The ride home was uneventfull. No mentionable stacks because we agreed that if the engine was still running it was not counted as a stack. This suited Bruce & I.
We arrived at camp with 205ks of wear on our bikes and about 5hrs of riding.
Over a few beers we tacked WR ROSSs dilemma -Troopy with keys inside.
Old paint tin wire handle problem solved.
Thanks Jacko and all who played.
