DARINS ANZAC RIDE METRO TO NTH BANNISTER

Riders: Darin, Hooters, H, Tommy, Choko, WR Ross, Peter, Roley, KTMColin, Tony, WR Rob & Fueltanker Allan.

ROTD: Darin

SOTD: N/A

Darin called an ANZAC weekend ride to retrace the tracks he had recently taken us on from Metro to Nth Bannister and back. 12 Weekend Warriors turned up and it was great to see some old faces such as Choko, Hooters, Tony and KTMColin join the usual reprobates! At the riders briefing Darin reminded everyone that dirt biking was a dangerous sport and to ride within our limits Choko was given a special mention LOL!

We then acknowledged the significant of the long weekend, remembering the past Diggers who fought to allow us to ride our dirt bikes freely under the Southern Cross LEST WE FORGET! There was also some unnecessary comment about how NZ saved Australia though that was quickly drowned out by enduro motors coming alive.

Darin had confessed that he had a bit of trouble with his GPS after down loading some new software and had lost his previous tracks. This was not a problem for anyone, we just wanted to ride though it did put a little pressure on Darin was we weaved our way to Nth Bannister. At a few regroups even the trustie Sweep, Pete gave the odd directional advice.

The worse of the ride was the usual woopees heading away from the Metro area where the MXers do their circle work! I do wish they would simply do ever decreasing circles and disappear up their own orifices! However, once we where on our way the pack worked out its usual pecking order and the cornerman system worked well until the last turn before the Roadhouse! Some how we lost Choko and Hooters. While the rest of us fueled up and re-energised Rob back-tracked and was soon back with the Lost Brothers!

The only other little hiccup we had heading out was KTMColins blowing three fuses seemed to be linked to the starter? The KTM then boiled over while we were re-grouped deciding our next track! The Sweep was heard making his usual comments about Austrian crap whatever does he mean?

Special mention also goes to a rider who will remain nameless by me but suffice to say he could not hold off until we got to the Roadhouse and felt the need to heed the call of nature on the track so not only bears shit in the woods!

The ride back was less eventful but just as good apart from the dust that seemed to increase as the ride went on. Even that dam KTM behaved itself. Darin took us on some great trails particularly some new single tracks we just stumbled upon which goes to show you there is still a lot of exploring to do out there. From where I rode at the back of the pack as usual I spotted the odd mono being displayed by Allan and Rob very impressive boys!

All up we clocked up just over 130 kms thanks to Darin a top job mate! Also special mention to Pete the Sweep only because everyone else made mention of him! LOL Does it get any better, a great bunch of riders and great trails but come on the rain!
