As I left home, the front lawn was a whitish colour. Minus 2 degrees apparently freezes the dew on the ground causing frost. It was cold out fellas.
8 guys rocked up at the Lakes, where there was even more frost. Instead of standing around shivering, we set of for the parking spot. Just before the dirt road started, I heard a loud bang behind me, so looking in the mirror I notice my rear window has shattered! Yay. Broken glass through my riding gear.
The plan was to re do the loop we've been putting in. It was a good plan with a couple of modifications.
Wayne has been out during his off time finding new trails in that area too, so it's all slowly linking up.
We manage to find one old road that goes uphill a bit. I mentioned at the riders brief there wouldn't be anything difficult. Now just because there's slippery rocks, no way through the tea trees & it's uphill doesn't make it hard. Christoph, Jamie & Gavin had a sort of "WTF" look on their face when we got to this bit, but they didn't shy away from it & were secretly proud of having a go & succeeding I reckon.
Now we we're at the top, we had to find the path down. Following Mick is always an adventure. This will be an awesome track once it's remembered properly.
We get to the quarry bit where Wayne has been doing his magic. Another great trail that cuts out some seriously shitty water holes that leads back onto the main trail.
We've done this a few times now, so there's only a couple of small "which way" moments. This bit is a nice fast section you can get going on, apart from the trees across the road that is. They seem to sneak up on you.
Into the gully creeky area now which is fun too, when I see Ross in a hole. I was thinking I'ld have to ring Allen & get him to draw another poo picture, but Ross wasn't in any trouble this time.
The first time we did this bit, we went on the left side. All the bikes boiled, everyone fell off as it is really snotty. Mick decided to go have a look again. $ of the guys followed him while we waited. We heard more silence than motors as the got no where. Soon they were back then it was a short run back to the cars.
I know I've left some stuff out of this, but if you'ld like to experience this trail, come out with us instead of reading about it.
Thanks again to all for a great mornings ride.
