Title: Phil wants a ride

Its been a bit lean on the ridesbloody hotnot even a hint of a micro drop from the sky for months, the other half of oz is under water. Whats goin on?..hurts the brain thinking of whywhat to do?.call a ride anyway. Nice one Phil.

Theresa few on the same pagea good turn out at the OVT.nice n earlywarm alreadybut a good easterly blowing. The Kato is going to suffer today I know itwe nearly drop her off the ute on the way indays not startin well. Phils there, everyone ready to saddle up, so we join the ranks quick smart and roar off.

The pines north of the OVT are a good blast..dust, what dust.were eatin dirtbut adaptability is the key. The needles provide some suppressionbut watch those bloody stumps.youll be off and it wont be nice. I see some boys charge inhold itcommittrust the machineemerge the sand victor .Grabham style.

I tell ya Phil is setting a very fast pace.mouth/eyes/throat/lungs are dry and parched..and thank god we stop in some nice Banksia country for a rest. Talk KTMs with Deano for a while, he loves this stuff...Toddys up the front on his XTwith a smile like a split watermelon. How hes doin it no one knows. She gets up and boogies that XT, though its criss-crossin the track like its possessed.the mans just hangin on. Jacko can relatehis old girl is blowin out the cob webs aswell. Rosss flying blind and collects a fallen treepicks up Yamicleans pants..collects SOTD.

Keep truckinDont mind the pines up there.absolutely no idea were we arebut now we push on into more banksia/coastal country. There's some fireys out there doing some burn off.we pull uphe gives us a wave and we charge on. The ground is probably still pretty hotIm not stopping thats for sure.so blast on.im not getting smashed by green prickly trees here and its a nice relief.

We pull out on some limestone..not far from the OVTthose guys who booked a quick one scoot off and I reckon 10 of us push on.a sniff of juice left though. Mick teaches me the trick of layin the bike over to get the fuel on the tap side..and it gets me to Yanchep..some full run outsbilly bob.the mighty XT of course, may be morebut we are diggers In the absence of fueltanker Allen at that point, Paul B saves the day.

We are lovin it.Yanchep is welcoming, supply us with fuel and waterso its like the day began again. Mick takes the lead and you can tell hes been waiting patiently. He proceeds to take us into dune country with Pete. Its mid day about now and were bush bashin, making trails, heading west toward the beach. We head through a few partly fenced old blocks.bloody big piles of wire hanging aroundstops Rothy quick smarthalf way up a hill no less.felt for the bugger..laughed. He caught up ok not too serious.

The horsepower was well and truly needed as we spied the beautiful Indian Ocean. A wrestle, a fight....and were perched on a dune 20m from a flat perfect reefy beach. Billy bob wants to go get some craysI just want to dive intake the Kato with me. In the bog...Lee is on foot... bunny hops the bike, spins 180 degrees effortless.

North we goand I think I can see Moore River..nice spot. A track takes mick straight for the beach againits hell boggyweve done enough todayhe hooks it up againstraight up a dune. Some are luckyget it right.others are offtrudging up.bikes screamin.theres green stuff coming out for sure.

All accounted forwe stop up highpark the bikes square to the easterly.

10 15 more kms of testing hilly, winding tracks and weve reached the black stuff at Willunga? Grove. A single whoop is a breaking thought at this pointall agree.

Road stretches on a dirt bike can be boringnot after todaywe ride in unison, double up, brothers, all the way back to the OVT. Big bores chuckin monos off the throttle for good measure including the XT - ROTD has been voted Todd.

The OVT is an oasis..a cleanser, some grub, stories retoldthe days just began again!!!!
