1st Midwest ride for 2011

6 Players klx Tony , Sharky , Merv , Browny , Richard , Steve (KTM 250f) Tony called a ride on Saturday for a blast through the scrub to the north ,about an hours drive. An early 6am meet at the 440 to enjoy the sunrise, coffees and fuel bowsers before hitting the bitumen. On the drive up we were teased with black clouds and whopping 7.5 drops of rain! Arriving at the car park next to the blue flowing river we geared up and headed off into the red dirt country. Bush tracks mixed with some riverbed crossings and some rocky rocky rock sections. For variety we took turns finding trails ,and making some, through the scrub while dodging the loads of old mine shafts peppered around the place. Did I mention rocks? We ended up at an old mine ruins on top of a high hill with views for miles. Would make a great Crusty clubhouse. After a mid morning smoko back at the cars to chinwag while topping up fuel we off in the other direction along the river. Richard had a slow leaking rear tyre so stayed with the cars. Sharky was keen on a river crossing and waded out to thigh deep before exclaiming should be OK. We declined his offer of exuberance. KLX Tony found his front tyre was missing all of its air soon after, so decided to head back to the cars on the main track. From there we found some good winding high speed tracks and a funky saltlake/riverbed run. A twisting, twig tweaking sprint back through some bush tracks to finish off with. All up around 80 ks and a great way to kick off the new season. Cheers Tony for calling it ROD No major offs so no SOD Bring on the rain.
