When was the last ride that it wasnt too hot nor too cold, everyone turned up on time fully prepared for a 90km loop involving outstanding single track, challenging hill climbs and awe inspiring views. No one got a flat or had mechanical issues, the cruising speed was just right. No complaints about too much dust, sand, rocks and four wheel drives.

Well you missed out! See what can happen when everyone rides a DRZ!

Jacko called a quick ride as a warm up for the Kalgoorlie Ride. His cryptic clues stated head North, North East with hills and single trackno sand.

Being that I love sand, hate rocks and have a love / hate relationship with rocky hills, it sounded too good to miss.

The crowd that gathered at the ride meeting voted for Jacko to lead with me as sweep and Ash keeping the crowd under control mid pack.

As described, great single track, some..a fair bit..lots of loose rocks, some great hills and some WTFAW moments (Where the __ are we) moments (mainly from me) that all mix together to make an enjoyable ride.

Big hill number one:

Jacko stopped to point out the big hill that had bitten him last time, suggesting that you can have a go if you want. Ash was like a kelpie before sheering time..Let me at it! I ( showing the wisdom of age) told Ash that Ill park myself halfway up the hill to take photos, thinking that this will sort the young chap out.

Ash whacked the DRZ into second and wrangled it to the top without any drama, making it look easy.

Jacko (showing the wisdom of age) said You going to have a go Al?

Ten minutes later we all gathered at the top of the hill admiring the view.

At this time Ash had already started to map out his attempt at the steeper climb.

Keep right, fling it across to pick the gap between the trees and ride the channel between two huge roots bounce of a rock wall (gathering traction and speed) and up the last section to the top. He nearly did it. The photo shows the result.

My own attempt was planned perfectly but executed poorly. I missed the bits I was meant to hit and hit the bits I was meant to miss. Failed! Being that we had been to the top we gathered our wisdom and rode back up the easier way.

Great navigation Jacko, thanks for calling the ride (ROTD). Ash, so close to picking up both ROTD and SOTD but you will have to get the latter. Al, you get to write the report.
