A good size field turned up for the second MOA Pony Express for 2011. There were plenty who chose to drive up Saturday and camp overnight including all of the CQers. The weather was fantastic, not too cold and not the slightest of breezes. Bev cranked up the bar and grill and most of ate in the old shearers shed. After you get used to the smell of sheep shit the food starts to taste great and we did have a good laugh.

After dinner we retired to the camp fire where we found James and his family who had also booked into the dongers. James was 3 / 4 tanked and provided plenty of entertainment for the night including the kickoff to the SOTD award toppling backwards off the log/seat but managing to keep the beer intact. He followed through with the award and came down three times on the sight lap picking up the SOTD award.

After a very brief and laid back riders meet we headed out for a sight lap of the short but deadly 14 km loop. On return we found that the start was whenever you wanted it. Hit the trail and continue to ride as much or as little for the next four hours. We all rode different amounts today form 3 laps up to nine. Wayne nominated Col for the ROTD for riding the longest distance of 126 kms.

Following the boys along a sandy river bed, James decided to ride at a pointy piece of drift wood with a big pink marker ribbon attached to it. Apparently they mark these things so you can try to avoid them. This lovely piece of wood punctured his left hand radiator and that was him for the day. I suppose that is the HOG award as well because the bike was bought home on a ute!!!

Merv rode hard this week and looks like he has picked his pace up on the rocks while Jimmie likes to simply enjoy a day out on the bike. Wayne had a ball getting air on the many small take off platforms and loves getting the bike wound up and going quick in the river beds.

The rest of the day was mostly incident free and the more laps we did the more fun we were having. Gero enduro club is certainly not a pressure event and is great for every level of rider. Cant wait for the next one.
