This report is a bit disjointed & out of sequence as I was having too much fun to keep track of when what happened to whom.
The 7 of us arrived at the parking spot to find that some others had set up camp. We had no idea who it was, so after going through all their gear, stealing their fuel & hiding their beer we head off onto the trails. After the good reports form others as to the terrain I was a bit excited.
Wayno & Rob had been scouting there the previous week & were soon leading a good pace.
Darin was back after his 3 month lay off feeling a bit apprehensive but he hasn't lost any of his skills, just a bit slower getting back into the groove.
Jason was on the power as always putting it sideways everywhere. Carlo was blaming Tommy for everything (hitting a rock parking his car). Tommy wasn't far behind sweeping & picking Carlos bike up for him all the time.
The selection of trails included tight twisty single track with water laden branches hanging down slapping everyone in the face. Wayno was leading so he got the wettest but we all ended up rather damp from it.
Some great grippy fire trails that you can hook into. Steep rutty hills that get the better of Rob, he comes screaming past me down on & when I get to the bottom he's off the bike holding his wrist with a bad look on his face. He's hit the end of this rut & the bike's stopped. His hand has caught in the bark buster. We check him out & it's OK to carry on.
Wayno stalls his bike on a log & topples over getting caught under it against a log. Poor bloke can't move so I get the camera out.
Carlo gets bogged to the bashplate in a deep rut & can't get his bike out without help so we just wait him out until it gets boring then help him.

We're about 45klm's into the ride when we come across this other group. It's the guys who had set up camp. Todd, Rothy, Harve, Chris de Berg & a new guy Ginge. Well we stop for a bit of a chat then decide to join together. We head on for a bit then Rob thinks he'ld better see about his wrist so calls it a day. Darin decided to pull out too as after 3 months he's a bit tired, Jason goes too as his wife is waiting for him as she went to a christening & Ginge has commitments after lunch, so that leaves 8.
What's to come? Todd, Wayne, Chris all take turns at leading so it's more mud, hills with brilliant erosion mounds, creek crossings, Todd & Chris de Berg having a bath together in a deep puddle with bikes on top of them, more hills, more mud... more of everything!
If you look at the last pic in the report, you'll see only one flat section of track.

All in all, thanks to everyone on the day, as always you can't find better mates to go riding with.
