Heres how the call went out.

Calling a Ride!
I have planned out a ride on the new GPS up from Pinjar. It combines some of the Follow the KLX by Pete, GinGin with MickMick by Mick, The other ride by Phil + some stuff that looked good on the satellite. Should be an easy one on sand with minimal whoops and no widow maker type hills, on paper at least. Bit over 100Ks.
8am at the OVT Saturday 10th and should be back for around 12noon. See ya there!

First time with the GPS but with help from Tommy and Mick450 I had put together a plan and with some more prep work, it was on. Chuffed with the turn out and 12 in all was a nice number + the thought I had some very experienced CQs behind me I knew it would be OK.

Note: Anything you need to know about the riding we do just post up or call some guys, ask the questions and a wealth of knowledge will be offered.

Set out from the OVT and on some tar to start. No idea of the next turn as I had planned to start in Pinjar ORV and with the recent wonderful changes the RTRA have made, it has changed a bit. Missed the first turn and headed down a smooth limestone track. At the first corner I was left with a choice of limestone whoops or sand, neither of were which were on the plan. Soft stuff seemed better so sand it was and so off we head. A quick tour through the RTRA car park to show the others and off to more good stuff.

Hoped the week day rain would have topped up a good 150mtr water crossing I had done before but dry as a bone and looking at it this way, with big pot holes, thank god. More whoops to the first regroup and I copped it, "You said no whoops". No, I said minimal. Rest of the ride was smooth fire breaks and some rarely used 4x4 tracks and kept to the ride call description of a fast pasted easy stuff.

Using a GPS takes some practice and the others in the ride were treated to practise on the U-Turn manoeuvre to add to the fun. Found a wicked hidden loop near a hill Mick450 had taken me to before that you could just ride past and never know it was there. Thank you Google maps! Ups, downs, off camber turns and plenty of them, thats the stuff I like.

We had many good runs along 4x4 overgrown tracks with firm packed sand and the flowers were out in force making it a very colourful ride. I found out if you lead there is no dust, nice to see where I was going for a change but I was hoping the mid week rain had at least reduced it for the others behind.

With all the detours fuel was becoming an issue and 99.8ks on paper was turning into 120. Many reserves where call upon and thanks to the guys that chipped in with fuel. I know now that I should always pack some extra for the unforseen stuff that pops up, for me or my fellow riders. The backpack keeps getting fuller. First Aid, Tools, Spare tube, Fluids, Navigation, Nourishment, Money, Drivers licence, now lets just add a litre of fuel. Strap it on tight and up the suspension!

Mick lead us to a well known quarry for some play time and while most had to sit back with fuel and self preservation issues to deal with, mad Mick450 was up and over a very tall quarry face. Next FT Al followed by Lethal. Slade also took to the slope multiple times.

A top ride and I learnt a lot. It has helped put together lots I have been taught over the 9 months Ive been riding trails with the Crusties. Thank you. I hope others on this ride enjoyed it as much as I did and look forward to seeing you out there on many more.

How about ROTD for Slade, for 3x up the quarry and going sweep, SOTD for Lethal for his 1st attempt at the quarry face. Half way up, stylish save and head back down only to wash out the front and tumble forward with the bike following, looked awesome from the base.
