ROTD - Tommy for calling the event
SOTD - not witness by me but Mick450, WaynoVB & Mick530 were all vying for this award! LOL

Yes the Crusty Quinns have had another great year even if it has now become the "Year of the Injuries"! The evidence is in the fact that there has been 65 rides/events called this year (2010 - there were 66; 2005 still tops the number of events with 72!)) and the rider group has now grown to 466 riders who have now joined us in the Hall of Fame, with 110 active riders on the Intro page, plus two more newbies on Andy400s ride this Saturday.

As well, we continue to have link ups with our Murchison & Southern Explorer cousins which only makes our ride group stronger!

Other stats:

o. Colin, Pounce & ColMc remain the most talkative on our messageboard!
o. ROTD 5 top performers are: ColMc, H, Pounce, Tommy & Mick450 as they have consistently stepped up and called & lead rides - these
guys have made the Crusty Quinns the dirtrider group it is, along with the newer who now are regularly stepping up to call a ride and show the way! Like Andy400 taking responsibility and giving back to the rider group for todays ride!

o. SOTD 5 top performers (or are they simply unlucky?): Peter, Carlo, ColMc, Colin & Choko!
o. Based on simply the raw stats for the most popular bike, one would have to say it is a KTM 450 EXC followed by the WRF 450 (though clearly overtime this stat is questionable in how riders come & go from our group?). However, one observation I can make is out of the top 11 riders on the Intro Page who have achieved LEGEND status with 50 plus rides each: 5 ride DRZ400e, plus 3 others homed their riding skills on DRZs before moving onto other steeds (Tommy, TigeR & Choko) - long live the TRACTOR (Yellow & Proud)!
o. I also note that Acid Gloves Eddy (the CQ Stig) only came out twice to play in 2011 to help out the Murchison Boys on two occasions - however clearly they need all the help they can get! LOL

As well as acknowledging the Leaders we cant forget the Sweeps who help maintain order and keep the pack going - thanks guys, a sometimes thankless task but, an essential one that means the Cornerman system works and everyone comes home together.
As I said it has been a year for accidents and what seems more than our usual number of injuries. I actually did my knee injury in late 2010 and the only thing that has kept me going and interested has been the weekly Ride Reports and photos - keep them coming! However, these injuries have taken their toll particularly on some of the core rider group: ColMc has finally succumbed, hanging his boots up for good after his last encounter with a 4WD - he is and will be missed from the rider pack, leading many, many rides and devoting time to holding beginner rides for the newbies; Darin another who has called and lead many rides has moved into "semi-retirement" but, will hopefully re-join the pack sometime in the future; wrex & TigeR who have had to learn to walk again - hopefully like me they will be back next winter; then theres Pounce who allegedly did his wrist on the trail (LOL) and then snapped off the stainless steel screws and required further surgery!; there were others with a range breaks but who can forget that photo of 9 Finger Jacko! Ride safe and stay upright!

Also a big thank you to TigeR, Pounce & Colin who so ably keep our website going and ensure the Crusty Quinns has a future and that we stay connected with one another as was the original concept by our Founder, Jaw! Remember keep the dollars coming in to keep our Westnet website going (Westnet account: BPay reference code 4338430 - Biller Code 68585). Have you made your yearly contribution? (TigeR does need a new bike you know! LOL)

Sitting on the bench its hard to say what the highlights have been this year but from where I was sitting obviously the annual West Coast Safari tour with 26 riders seemed like another great ride, then there was Mick450s Gin Gin overnighter, with 11 riders plus partners (I must get to the next one) and then there was Lexs recent South West Safari with 29 riders and a range of steeds! Or how about Jackos New Tyre ride in July with 21 riders! Not to mention the recent Wokalup rides which certainly had their share of thrills & spills with Stuntman Hooters getting special mention! Then there was the CQ cultural exchange trip to Thailand and beyond back in December 2010 by Pounce, HUSQ Mike, Jeff 400, Todd & Mick450! Interestingly Pounce will be our only Cultural Ambassador for this December 2011 trip to the Asian Rainforests and beyond - enjoy Pounce and do us proud! To come think about it, sitting on the bench, any ride would be a highlight for me at the moment - even though I cant even get out of mowing the lawn anymore (bugger!)
A final promotional plug - make sure you have re-newed your RTRA membership, if you are not a member yet - join now! This is about our riding future and the RTRA is getting some runs on the board!

May 2012 be even bigger and better! Hopefully by next winter I will be able to throw a leg over!

Merry X mas & Happy New Year - Riders, partners & families.
