Rider of the day Tommy
Stack of the day Bushy
I called a ride early in the week so Wr Ross could get his legend status up but as it happened he already had it up as he had missed a point from the WCTS ride. The ride was called so no backing out now as people had already started posting they would be there on Saturday at the meeting point.
15 riders turned up and we headed off to the parking spot this is when we noticed that there was very little dust on the roads after the rain on Friday. Suited and booted in on time a short riders meeting mainly for the benefit of the new guy Bushy and we were away.
I planned to ride a few tracks that we have ridden before then a few new ones and hope they linked up a few tracks from an earlier ride. A simple plan. Along the way we would avoid anything too hard with the heat that was forecast but there was one hill that I have been having a private little battle with and I had to have another go at it so everyone had to have a go as well. I didnt make it in one go but I am getting there the rest of the guys had a go and we all got to the top some with more style than others there is more to explore along here but that will have to wait for a cooler day.
Back to the easy tracks now for a rest before the new tracks as you never know what they will be like.
As it turned out they were pretty straight forward apart from one section that was a bit overgrown but we got through it and linked it up to some of the single tracks that we were heading for.
Just over halfway now and after a regroup and some snakes we head for the homeward tracks that we had scouted a few weeks ago. The first tracks I really like they are fast and flowing with a couple of fallen trees to go around and a few to go over the problem is which ones are which? Then onto the tracks that in winter will swallow you and your bike if you get the wrong line and think its only a small rut with some water lying at the bottom. We have done 90 odd Ks now and we are almost back to the cars when I remember another track with some nice soft sand and sweeping corners and head off down it for a fast race home. This opens up to a section with some large puddles covering the whole path and some of the guys end up in the middle of them getting a nice cool bath Ha Ha. Back at the park spot bikes are packed away and we head off to the Rock Inn for a bite to eat some bench racing and a fair bit of crack about the days fun in the sun.
Bushy picked up SOTD for multiple offs but he kept getting back on again so well done
