Well another great ride yesterday with the MidWest crew ktm carl, wombat, merv and pete
With a counter lunch already booked in it was an early start to get back in time. Meeting at Mervs place again we headed off to the Greenough river mouth via some great sand dunes a bit of beach riding, sandy tracks and some great back tracks with a bit of nice tight rocky going with a couple of nice obstacles along the way. The trip out was pretty uneventful with just a couple of wrong turns taken we made it to the dunes just before Greenough where wombat and ktm carl playing around in the sand and wombat providing the first rreal entertainment climbing the dune we were all watching from turning before the top to try and spray us with sand before laying down upside down form lack of momentum, through the dunes to the river mouth where the women and kids met us and the kids got a quick lap in on the sand before we turned around and headed for home. The trip home was going pretty good with me getting more used to the extra power and throttle response of the 450 over the 250 but as all good things go just as I thought the power was tamed it showed me who was boss, following Pete along a fence line I was a bit close when he slowed and turned right to get around a rather large railway line fence, there was a gap between it and a concrete water line barely big enough for a bike with some quick calculations I worked out that brushing along a concrete water pipegoing the same direction as me compared to hitting a fence made from railway line was going to hurt less. I managed to get the bike through the fence, glanced the water pipe which saw me go over the side of the bike and slide along the water pipe for about 5 meters seperate to the bike eventually falling on the other and coming to rest with my pride the only thing taking a beating, Only Merv bringing up the rear got to appreciate the whole thing. the rest of the trip home was uneventful but great fun, made it home in plenty of time to make our counterlunch commitments
