It was a late call by Allen on friday afternoon to head out 7:30 sat morning. 6 crusties turned up on this very cold morning, there were 2 new riders, Trentwa on his berg 570 and easty on his crfx 450.

So all booted up and we head off north across wanneroo road and straight into the sand, straight away my 300 isnt feeling right - heavy steering and its picking its own line thru the ruts..."is it me or is it the bike" i wonder? Trying to catch up to allen to tell him to stop so we can take a look over it, but no chance of catching him in the sand - 10ks in we finally stop, i had fitted the steering dampner the night before, so we pull it all apart, still seems quite stiff - so it gets left in the back pack for the rest of the ride....that will be a job for when i get home.

So again off we head for another 10ks or so then its fingers time to do some bush mechanics, he loses the bolt for his seat and nearly loses the thing. After some bodge'ing its good to go again so we head off into more sandy bearmy tracks. We pop out of the woods and follow the tarmac for a couple of mins while allen looks for single tracks that used to be there....no longer.

Allen takes us along the ridges of the hills, i think we have all been waiting for this part. Great view from up here apart from the new housing estate being built, after following the ridge for a good few ks we arrive at "the hill" apparently only hooters has made it up so allen see's if any of the new boys want a pop, me and tommy park way back as we know we arnt having a go. Trent fires up the big 570 and puts in a very good effort making it three quarters up , then fingers has a pop - same again another good effort and three quarters up - there was a ridge mid way up this hill that cant be seen from the bottom that way throwing the boys off.

We take off and trent and easty are both on the back wheel at high speeds as they were most of the day. So we get 80ks in and i am thinking how far will the new 300 go on one tank i remember seano saying 80ks and i am still going woohoo, well that didnt last long...another 2ks and doing some silly speed down a fire break i have to flick to reserve, try to catch allen to tell him. We stop in the quarry and get 750ml out of the tankers tank and open the back pack for some oil - top up and we all have a play in the quarry.

Another 10ks and we are all at the cars for a well deserved beer. Well done allen for calling the ride, tommy for sweeping in all that dust, and the other lads for just making it a great day.

No major falls, i would possibly get tool of the day though for the poor fitting of the dampner.
