Tour de Horrocks.

Four riders warmed up and psyched themselves for day 1 of what would prove to be a hard days ride. Each rider had their eye on the yellow jersey and this would be decided on a serious of sprints and could come right down to a few seconds.
An early upset with a breakaway group of Wombat and Merv had the peloton on edge and Bushy and Col had to maintain a steady pace and hope for an incident up front. With not too many kms of flat riding ahead the group would have to contend with a decent ascend descent ascend descent (frigging whoops) for most of the ride.

An unusual course that allows some riders to work hard on the main trail with Col 10 – 20 meters to the left riding on the beach. Cols excuse was he was going back to the support vehicles to pick up drinks and ride them to the front of the peloton.
Bushy is new to this style of riding and I was warned that he was a little slow!!! He might be new at it but I think he will give his buddies a run for their money in no time. Wombat lead the early breakaway group and maintained the position throughout the ride. Merv did well to sit in his wake but Wombat was just too good at the end of the day and picked up the prestigious yellow jersey. (ROTD)

Horrocks is not the Perinese. There are no Alps and no castles. In fact Horrocks is a bloody awful ride with soft sand and lots of whoops. Some guys like this stuff but I won’t be heading up that way again.
