Extra Fuel? Na no need for extra fuel ride.

The players Mick450, Wrex, Fudge & Gavin.

There are times in this dirt biking caper when you know plans just don't end in fruition.
My bike and gear was ready to go the night before and the alarm was set for 07:15.
As i was informed of my 1st division lotto win whilst on a Caribbean holiday with Scarlett Johan#¥*% who is ringing me now, as I look at my clock, 07:00. Andy400 it's Andy, as I listen to his excuse for not going due to fluid leaking out of most of his orifices, (his body not his bike people). Several phone calls are made the ride is still on without the guy who called the ride (hog award maybe?).

Mick and I carpooled and met Gavin and fudge en-route, so 4 it was for a midweek ride.
Before we left the car park both Gav and Fudge asked will we need extra fuel? Na was the reply from Mick and myself. Both of us thinking Fudges klx2fiddy should be good for about 500kms and Gav's Whosaberg 450 should see 110 kms without dramas.

Off we went with conditions perfect and Mick leading the way as he knows the area like the back of his hand. No dust and little puddles peppering the tracks keeping you on your toes. The damp tracks were very grippy. I was trialing my new pivot pegs and relocation lower of my rear brake lever. In a word "mintox".

After some familiar tracks and a ride on Micks bike to try out the rekluse clutch we all emerged from the muddy bog holes. Mick had bypassed the mud and my bike was clean as a whistle. The other 3 bikes were dirty, Mick had a laugh at the state of his bike.

After an explore and secret location we come across some awesome scenery and trails which I dubbed the "roller coaster". Hot on micks tail with both of us on the gas and backing it in on most corners we come across "the hill". The hill is one on which the mighty hill climb champ was stopped, yep Mick was stuck half way up.

A short transport section and some beautiful river crossings of one which fudge stalled and let his boots fill up. We told him it's ok we got it on camera.

Back into familiar territory and 100km down Gav's fuel light is still not on. Mick looks at me and points down the track, short way, then points the other way and says long way. What option did I have Gav getting low on fuel, me with a big tank, Mick with a big tank, I point down the track and state the long way with a chuckle. After another 30 min we regroup and ask again about fuel, gav replies I've been on reserve for the last 16 km's. Mick looks at me and points down the track, short way, then points the other way and says long way. What option did I have Gav getting low on fuel, me with a big tank, Mick with a big tank, I point down the track and state the long way with a chuckle. Mick says we should look out for a container to exchange fuel.

Another 10 odd kms down the road I decide to take up the sweep duties to keep an eye on the boys in case they run out of fuel. Yep Gav's out. Gav had found an old perishing water bottle we used to transfer a litre from mine to Gav's bike. Fudge pipes up I'm on reserve as well. Now at this point you would think mick would take the direct route home wouldn't you. Nope this is Mick remember every hill, gully and bush bash track he could find we took. 1 km from the cars Gav's out go fuel again. The same container is used but the last few km's have taken it's toll on the poor container. Filling 100mls at a time we put in about 500mls but she doesn't want to start. Out come the tow rope I have been car ringing for the last few years and never used. As I dig it out Gav's bike fires to life, that would be right. I put it away and the bike dies again. Tow rope attached 200 mtrs down the track my bike dies. Towing Gav up a gravel hill I could get to the fuel cock whilst moving. Over to reserve I go and we are off. 1km of tow and we are back at the cars.

After fuel dominating this ride, Mick takes his helmet off and says what's that looking to the other side of the car park. On his return he is carrying a very new 1/2 full jerry can full fuel.

Thanks mick for an awesome ride and Fudge and Gav for coming along for the ride so to speak. 136kms in total.

Moral of this story ( there's always a moral ) don't believe a word Mick or I say ever. :-).
