Report by Col.

The event was not posted until less than a week before kick off and as a result only 30 riders turned up. The riders briefing was just that. The briefest briefing I have attended. You can smash your bike and hurt yourself, be careful and by the way we have marked out a 20 K loop!!

The sight lap was a disaster. The course could have been marked a little better and there were riders lost riding around in circles looking for the return trails. A sweep turned up and got most of the guys heading in the right direction and there was some “quiet” complaining happening in the pits one we got back.

One of the officials decided on a second sight lap but this time at half pace so everyone including me could keep up. With dust hanging around badly in some areas even this idea seems rout with trouble. Within 20 minutes we were back at the cars again with a better understating of the trail and ready to go hard!!

As I mentioned the dust was thick in some places making it difficult to ride with your buddies. Of course, Crusty Quinns boys stick together and went out on most laps riding the course together. I took Jamie’s KXF 450 for a lap and scared the pants of myself a few times. A deadly weapon far better suited to a MX track than a lay back enduro loop. Jamie took Wombat’s 500 for a lap as well and was pleasantly surprised with its ability. He really needs a bike with a headlight and all the other goodies that makes these enduro weapons well behaved lap after lap.

At only around 14.5 k’s a lap after a few marker changes the loops got better with age. It was out the gate go hard and back in no time. Everyone had a top ride and Merv reckon this was the best METRC event EVER!!! I had a nice little off in front of Kane but not worthy of the SOTD award. We all deserve the ROTD award therefore no one will pick it up.

Last years ride was called the Whitewater 300. Was the name change this year due to my 200th ride today? They did splash a pic of me across the front of the event flyer!

This one will definitely be on my calendar for next years ride.
