Allen turns 80 during the Winter Solstice
Tommy calls it again and six riders turned up to take on the trails. We head out to the parking spot,get geared up and get into it.
Its very dusty for this time of year so I hang back and let it clear out a bit. lots of nice single and twin track stuff as usual. Tommy has a magic way of linking awesome single track. We have a regroup and can hear the duf duf of base speakers in the distance and think someone must be camping nearby. At the next regroup pounce is not looking or feeling very good and decides to go back via the gravel road. We can still hear the duf duf and carry on all the way to the roadhouse for food and fuel. We head off again and about ten ks in we come across the source of the noise. It's a huge rave party set up in a nice area with lots of people camping and partying all around. We rode straight in and stopped and talked to a few of them and it turns out they are celebrating the winter solstice. There definitely was a lot of celebrating going on. If you can smoke 'celebrating'. We were hearing the subs about 30 ks away earlier in the morning. Back to the riding for a while and we realise its getting late and a long way to go so we hit the gravel for the last 30 ks. Nice work linking up the trails Tommy.
