Black Dog Rally
The Black Dog Rally is a charity ride to raise money to assist with Men's mental health and suicide prevention. There main ride circumnavigates Australia while each state also has its own ride that hooks up with the main group. The state ride goes over 7 days and you have a choice to ride from 1 day to 7. We only rode the one day heading of on Sunday morning from Middle Swan and riding to Dongara.
We booked into the local Port Denison caravan park and had dinner with the troops at the Southernly Tavern before a very relaxing ride home this morning down the coast. We rode the only three real Adventure bikes (DR's) however there was a splattering of the other bigger versions. 60 riders were in the pack yesterday and nearly everyone was well behaved. There were three bikes towing those little camper trailers and travelling far to fast!!! 50 of the riders continued on with an 800 km ride in site today heading towards Leonora. 10 of us packed up and came home after the one day ride. I look forward to next years ride. News to hand - Tragically the lead rider Les James was killed on day two of the ride. He collided with a truck between Geraldton and Mullewa. RIP Les.          |
