We meet at the Sawyers Valley Tavern car park on Sunday for a ride around the lakes area.
A few Crusties rode the day before in the same area and said the dust was back, and they weren’t wrong. It was only 3 weeks ago that a ride was called there and everyone got soaked. Sure doesn’t take long to dry out.
Wasn’t too far into the ride and Dynamax (Matt) got cross rutted on a hill and wore himself out trying to get up. He thought it was best to call it quits so he worked his way back to the Tavern. So with Matt back at the cars, we headed out on the trails. Darin was doing a good job of leading and all I had to do was follow.
The hills area has a lot of awesome tracks and trails to follow and the tracks thru the creek beds are great fun to ride. We came across quite a few riders out on the day as well, making the most of it. With both of us riding 2 strokes, fuel was going to be a problem if we did much more than 100 kays. I brought some extra fuel, which I needed, as we did about 120 and my 200 hitting reserve just over the 100 mark. Darin’s 300 did well, he didn’t hit reserve.
We both had a goods day’s ride with all different types of terrain to be had. I won’t leave it so long before I get back to the hills area again. I do like the creek bed sections and the rocky hill climbs - reminds me of riding in the Ravensthorpe area.
Cheers Darin for leading the ride and Matt (Dynamax) hope to see you out again.
Cheers DazzaM
