Ride report for “Steamy Thursday Lakes Ride”

DeepDirt called the ride early in the week without any takers. After seeing the rain on Wednesday night I decided that I was long overdue for a RDO and this might be the last chance for a dustless ride this year.
Luckily Acid gloves eddy turned up fashionably late which made three Crusties in total. Also three of DeepDirt mates also came out for a blast, but for now they shall remain nameless (mainly because I can’t remember their names)

The ride started off with the usual access tracks to get into some good country. Once we were in Hilly country we got into some good single track and a new hill loop which I have not been on before. This was followed by a twisty creek run which was also a first for me. While on this creek run I decided to jump a log on my Freeride and managed to land it not so elegantly onto black/ice mud, the front wheel then decided to go sideways while I continued on in a forward direction. My first reaction of course was to turn around to check if anybody had seen it (unfortunately Deep dirt was right behind), my second reaction was to check for damage, fortunately all was well but the Freeride needed the front realigned with a few good whacks against a nearby tree.

Conditions for the ride were very steamy and everybody was hoping for some more rain to cool things down during the ride. I drained my camelback halfway thru the ride. We managed to rack up around 90klms for the day and then headed to Sawyers Valley Tavern for the regulation beer and debrief.

SOTD MickKal – only stack that was witnessed for the ride
ROTD DeepDirt – for finding awesome tracks
