Bring ya sphincters, it's gonna be slippy" ride.DazzaM, ktmshaun, WOBBLES & Martyn.
DazzaM called a ride for Nannup, with the storms in the previous few days in the area this was always going to be wet. So three other blokes rock up at the meet spot and drive another 100 metres to the parking spot. We start to kit up and get the bikes warm, DazzaM points out it's 3 'bergs to 1 carrot, unusual. We also get reminded that we're "straight into it" with a hillclimb within the first few k's. So we get going thankful the storms have abated and it's lovely and sunny, though cold. The hillclimb arrives with DazzaM leading the way, a short pause to regroup then one by one we tackle the climb. All seems fine, not too wet, a bit rutted, plenty of grass to get grip off and then the blinding sun and visibility of just upto the front wheel all the way up!! That wasn't expected, but somehow we all got up in one go and in one piece so it's off to the single track which was heavy with logs across the track n slippery roots, ktmshaun showed us his "putting theory into practise" with the log hopping prowess after a trip to the library. DazzaM led with the theory of what goes down must come up, so down we went, another regroup and time to go up and up and up. ktmshaun wanted his hill fix so we made new tracks up and down and finished the main loop with a rutted goat track of roots and jumps ;-) The rain came and went along with the the sun and cold winds, WOBBLE'S jacket was revered then derided but as long as we were working all was well. For the encore we headed back to a hill near the cars and threw rocks down, maybe it'll be smoother next time. Memorable moments where, the blinding sun, DazzaM hip n shouldering ktmshaun, WOBBLES using a rotten tree to balance unsuccessfully and 2 geese coming in for a close look.
