Choko, I went to buy a Magellan Explorist 500 Colour Screen here in perth and they wanted about $800 for it. I then looked on the net/ebay and bought one out of the states for AU$155 plus $27 postage. Yes it does not have the Ozzie base maps on it but it is very easy to load ....if you know the right people.

Choko - you should have a chat with wrex that was on the ast ride - he got a small funky Garin GPS from the USA that straps to your pad on the handelbars. I have the Garmi softwear that can go with it.

Check out the gallery - How good does that sticker look!!!!!!!!!
Choko - I have a Magellan 200. Its the cheapest version with maps but you can get the 100 which will almost do the same job for $200.00 of ebay. If you buy one on ebay just make sure it has Aussie maps loaded on it because you can get a great deal on a unit with USA maps!! The handlebat holder cost about $60.00 from Balcatta.

Finally, results are up for the Walpole Enduro...trailandenduro.com
I was pleasantly surprised. I dropped it in the second test and still managed 5th (top 5 was my goal)...but I certainly didn't expect it!
Congratulations Fiona!
See...enduro's aren't that scary. And you get to ride in places you normally wouldn't get to and you don't have to think about where you're going! Just follow the arrows.

I went for a ride yesterday out to the spot i first went with the Crustys and there was no one around, just can't say the name. After leaving the clearing we went straight ahead instead of going left when Pounce led us out there and i recommend everyone should go out there during the week the tracks were clean of all wheel marks .There was no dust and only 4 riders so it made for a good day with us doing about a 100km loop.

Hi Colin
I'm there for a beginners/intermediate ride in the hills. Could even be on a Sunday so as not to disrupt the Sat Ride.
Any one else keen????
Cheers

Choko, Your tube was pinched by hitting a rock, reckon best to avoid riding over those rocks, You could see the scar on the tyre and tube when we changed it on the ride.
|
| colin Thu, May 01 2008 19:54 | SUPER STAR (141 rides) | | |
 |
Choko - It doesn't matter if the spokes are loose or not. If they stick through the rim and then through the rubber band they will puncture your tube and the thinest part of the tube is the inside.
Brian - The adventure rally is like most other hills type riding. If we could get enough "beginners" I would be happy to lead a ride. Maybe just down the powerline, a few goat trails and fire trails.

So who's going to Widgiemooltha for the 2-day? My entry was sent off today. Riding Vets this year to take the pressure off my shoulder recovery. I'm heading across on the Friday evening and coming back the Sunday night, so it'll be a loooong weekend with little sleep! I had the Friday and Monday of the following weekend blocked out in my calender so no-one could book me for any meetings, so now I have a meeting on the Friday afternoon and a site visit on the Monday of the weekend the 2-day has been moved to! :-( Grrrr
|
| choko Thu, May 01 2008 18:54 | Diehard (30 rides) | | |
 |
Pounce- yep, spokes are checked after every ride and all seem to be good. I have a few big dents in both rims, maybe this is the prob??? I should proberly try riding around big rocks instead of over them.

Hey Val..
You wont be alone taking the whole day for a loop. I'll probably be there as well. Have taken the plunge and signed up for the course and the rally. Looking forward to it.
It would be great if we could arrange a ride as a "warm up" for the rally. Perhaps some of the guys who have done it before would be happy to take us for a ride to show us what to expect on the day.

Yes have thought lots about taking the plunge and doing the Adventure Rally. Talked with Georgina from WCS (I prefer to have a ride buddy) - we figured we could take all day to do one loop if necessary and Pretz said we would have our own personal escort with the sweep at the back :-0 I think it depends a lot on the weather.....maybe next year Mrs TigeR will join us??

Hey Choko,
Have you checked your spokes? You may have a loose one stabbing your tube.
Just a thought.
I'll crop it and do it when I get home for you Andrea.
