Hi southern crusties,I'll be in Perth on the weekend and Wombat, a newby and myself are itching for a Metro to Bannister ride so if any of you fine people would like to lead the way because we don't know where to go,we would really really appreciate it.

Mike - It is good to see Dilion is still riding.
Wrex - Good idea mate. I was thinking of a clamp setup and wondering how to adapt a bracket to it. Will give it a go.

Hi Col
This might be a little hard to explain over the net but can you use a large hose clamp to mount to forks. Use a bit of round tube 2-4cm long slightly bigger in diameter than the hose clamp so the hose clamp can thread through it. Drill hole big enought for the bolt from the light mount to go through. You may have to flatten round tube for a solid mount, attach nut between hose clamp and tube and tighten up.
Or

Can get a price if you need.

Speaking of a "Wrex" light. The KTM does not have anywhere to mount the bloody thing. i was thinking of the small screw hole that holds the cable guide down on the headlight assembly. Alternatively, a large clamp that goes around the top of the forks but not sure how to secure the light mount to the clamp!!! Anyone got a suggestion for either option or somewhere better.
Just had a look at the pic of rider 56 Dillon - He's all growed up now!!

Todays ride I have called the Random Doddle.
No ugly weather, the gps did not work , and we only did 70k's.
But we had a grat ride.
Thanks to Jacko for sweeping and John Russel and Dylan for supporting.
Report and photos to follow.

Great ride yeterday Mick, you've got a wicked sense of adventure and I love it!!! Water, mud, swamp, hills...if only we could have it like this all year round although it did take a long time to clean the bike. Thanks to the rest of the crew for a great day. Thanks Wrex for sweeping - still disapointed you didn't have a crack at the swamp creek bit when you said you would, especially after the coffee wise crack lol. Mick and I made it through...
See pounce you should have come. You missed an awesome ride!

Thanks jacko for sweeping today.
Husky mike should get ride of the day for leading the pack and taming his te510 on the single track. Both Russel and Dillon had some crazy sidways action. Russel at one point got it so far sidaways, he was pointing backwards, and still stayed upright!
cheers guys

todays ride report.
mick450,todd, wrex,fueltanker allen, wr rob,wayne, crf andrew,jacko.
we met up at the ovt around 8.00 for a 8.30 start and before we even got going wrex put his hand up for tool of the day,(he left his helmet at home)while he was off home to get it a shower came over so we took shelter under a tree. by the time it passed wrex was back and we were still dry so its all good.
we set off across the great sand plains of perth heading east and as usual the gate was not locked so we refueled bikes and tummys at chittering roadhouse, then it was off to the hills.
a few light showers passed over but most of us kept fairly dry except those that fell into puddles.
the tracks were very slippery in places and there were quite afew offs. i think wayne did the most spectacular ones aided by the lack of knobs on his tyres.i will give him spill of the day for that. most of us had a small off here and there but nothing to worry about.then it was time to head back to refuel and back across the sand plains to the ovt. thanks to mick for leading another awsome ride and to wrex for sweeping.
rotd mick.
sotd wayne.

Roley - After some research I recon the best braces for the buck are the sixsixone Paragons. They are $269.00 each from MX Giant and Pete can pick them up while he is away.
|
 |
Roley, any protection is maybe better than none. For that money you would ask how good they are, when Asterisks are USD450+ and made to measure CTI's etc, need a mortgage. For me these are like helmets, if they don't fit right, they ain't going to do their job and aren't going to work as they should. If they would let you try and return if they don't fit, then gotta be worth a go.
A quick google suggests the only people buying them are the ones that only have $299 knees. The rest are getting something called "pods" and Asterisks for serious protection.

Jacko thanks for the offer but it doesn't have wet weather tyres and I don't think I would get all that power to the ground in these conditions.
