Report:

With the weather warming our weekend warriors were welcomed by a wonderfully sunny day. CALM and the local police must have also thought the day was particularly nice; 3 of our heros got a serving. "Ok, it is legal to ride down this limestone track", the coppers informed the lads, "even if the bike is unregistered. However don't leave this track because CALM and the rangers can issue a $250 fine."

Hmm... well once we are in Alkimos territory its all fair game being private property. I've caught up with one of the farmers and he basically says "I don't like any of yer; but yer can ride on ma property. Just don't cut any fences, stick to the tracks and don't churn up me paddocks." Sounds like a fair deal I reckon.

Aaron high-tails it around the course

Our soldiers finally met up at the half pipe ready for the much-anticipated Time Trials. 4 laps of a course that consists of a few straights, some gentle curves, a few whoopies, a hairpin turn and a dip through some deep loose sand.

Aaron started first, 30 seconds later Tim was unleashed. 4 laps later JAW and Mik were clocking laps. An earlier mishap from Mik being a "show pony" caused him to snap his front brake lever. Unbenownst to him the front brake was then stuck slightly on and caused him much trouble, including several stacks trying to get through the boggy dip at the finish line. Not an impressive time recorded.

Mark only put in one lap before stopping - we're expecting better things from both Mark and Mik next time.

Oh and thanks guys for letting JAW know that he was on his last lap. Yeah, thanks...

We'd decided the winner of the time trials is the person who clocks the fastest lap - Mario Kart style. It's not a race, its just about getting the best lap you can. Tim picks up Rider of the Day by coming home with the goods.

Tim - the winner

Mik headed home with the lads after too many injuries and breakages; the lads to refuel. JAW went with the ladies in the 4runner up to Alkimos and waited. With the team back together the Yanchep run was on. JAW hung back with the ladies to lead the way. After a first unsuccessful attempt at one particular boggy hill, Nic won Stack of the Day when she hurlted the 4runner up the hill, swerved right only to find that's not where the runner wanted to go and slammed into some bushes and a fence - fortunately preventing it from rolling down the hill off the side. Ooops.

JAW starts the recovery process...

JAW pulled the shovel from the back and began the precarious task of recovering the car - and after about and hour and a half, plenty of digging and some necessary "pruning" the 4runner was back on her 4 feet. By this time Tim, Aaron and Mark had returned from Yanchep and the crew headed home; another trail complete.
