2023 Capel 200

How good was that! Started with the standard Friday night around the bonfire with plenty beers, booze and BS! They have really cleared out and open up the area we normally camp and even created a huge pit for the fire for us with seating. Very good of them.

350 entries this year so the paddock was chockers. Ventured out with Tommy, Slates and Husky Dan. A few k's in and Slates decides the 'W' track was better to the main track so continued. We caught up with him at the one of the first re-groups.

Tracks were A grade and conditions just about perfect apart from about 5 minutes of drizzle which was more an annoyance just having to wipe the goggles a little. Other than that..... perfect. The flowing pines section (closed and open) are always a highlight and for me the last 5kms of fast/ flowing trails just topped it off. This was the old shorter loop they used to do. Wish they would bring that back.

Husky Dan had to ride back in about 2/3 the way around only having 4th gear due to stripped gear lever.

Another great event. Will be back again next year for sure.

Adventure Rally in October. See you there.

North dandalup - Lucky 13

Mickal, Hooters, Pounce, Jed, Simon, Dave too fast, Mikey, Lukey, Kelly, Frankie, David, Joemc, dirt turtle200

Mick called it 13 lucky punters signed up. Rain all week none on the day - perfect. Boots on 8:30, after sorting a tricky not starting problem on David’s bike ummm pulled the choke out . Mick leading Pounce sweeping We headed up into the hills perfect tracks but this is north dandy so plenty of rocks and tree roots to keep everyone on their toes, or on the ground depending on the roll of the dice. Plenty of little crashes and off peste trips into the bush. Mikey and Lukey got their baptism of fire bush riding with the crusty legends (that’s code for worn out old codgers ) Both holding their own although Mikey having a few wee lay downs . Luke’s dad Kelly cruised along taking in the scenery and watching out for the under 18’s. Big shout out to Jacko the super sweep, we used one of his tricks to get David’s front brake working, water in the brake reservoir to get it working again. Cause of the damp logs and wet clay there were crashes an laughs aplenty- no one hurt so perfect. A fair range of riders and bikes made the day interesting and a few gnarly up and downhills kept everyone honest. Everyone was pretty knackered towards the end and the pack divided into 2 for the last 10km Pounce took the the weary warriors back on the bitchy and Mick dragged the rest along through some easy trails back to the cars. We stopped for a small fuel up for Mikey- some must have leaked out while the bike was on da ground - which was a lot Rob’s rear brake was toasted on arrival back- see pics, not even Jacko could fix that
Great day, beers to finish. Thanks Mick for leading, Pounce for sweeping, David for the fuel, Mikey for carrying my water ( some idiot left his camelpak at home ) Frankie for the old man mx pant overalls tip- they’ve been ordered
See y’all next time

Anyone up for a North Dandalup ride on Saturday? It will be about 80klm with about 70% single track and an optional hill. The plan is to do the usual North Dandy run and then go a bit further south to check out a couple of different tracks. Parking will be at the rear of the North Dandallup service station in the gravel carpark. Stands up at 8:30.

Cold, wet & homesick was a good call for yesterday.
Pikey, Slates & me rocked up, on the bikes at 9 & soaked to the bone with full boots at 9.05
It was too soon after the rain as every tree, bush & branch just dropped it's water onto us on the narrow trails.
I changed plan & did some more open trails, a few hills & lots of fun even though we cut it short at 40 k's as the light rain had started again & we couldn't see shit through the googles.
Back to the cars, head to Woky for a beer & lunch & as we pull up a massive rain storm comes through, so happy we missed it.
Still managed to find a couple of new bits again.
