The 2006 Crusty Quinns Classic.

Only 12 riders turned out for this years CQ Classic. The ride was held this year from Lano - Cervantes and return which is one of the more popular CQ rides these days. Sully lead the ride and did a great job controlling the pack and keeping the pace down to a safe speed on these busy 4 x 4 tracks. Well done mate, you picked up ROTD.

Only two minutes into the ride, KTMMark chasing an extra point dropped off the top of an unfamiliar dune and dropped about 5 m's landing hard and taking the wind out of himself for a few minutes. In true CQ style, he was back on board in no time seeing if he could do it again. Good stuff Mark, you picked up SOTD.

The ride to Wedge was pretty uneventful and only took a short time. The beach however for the 10 k's past Wedge was wide, hard packed and like the Mitchel Freeway. There just seems to be something special about riding on a beach like this on a sunny day. I'm not sure what it is but everyone smiles.

As the beach was so good at Wedge we decided to try it out for the ride into Cervantes. This section is usually narrow, boggy and hard work. Today it was great. Mostly wide and flat with a only a few sections of built up seaweed. In a couple of these sections the weed was a bit deceiving with deep muddy sections under it and quiet easy to get bogged in. Gazza, Dazza and Roley all had a go at getting stuck. I missed the biggest laugh of the day but Pete apparently lost control in the weed, went sideways and took off into the sea on the new 450 going in quite deep. Lucky you stayed on Bro!!!!

The rest of us just had a good ride. Cliffy was busy at every opportunity popping his famous sit down wheelies. Roley says it a little harder to keep up with Pete now that he has a few more horsepower. David just like riding really fast but has the skill and style to do it. The Grunta loves turning his throttle so he can hear the roar of the KTM. Col Mc rode steady all day as did Daza and Col. Orry pops past just when you least expect it and then disappears out of site.

Too bad it was sooo dusty but it was still a top ride. Everyone got home in one piece and that's the main thing. See you on the trails soon fellows.
