Saywers Valley - Powerlines.

The wet weather had finally arrived. This is what dirt bikers wish for an if you wish hard enough, sometimes it happens. 12 riders fronted up for a blast down the Power lines well lead by John525. John's riding level had picked up a level or two since I was out with him last and he set a good pace throughout the ride and made sure we all found our destination. That's an extra point (ROTD) John for a great effort.

There were three new riders out today for their first CQ ride. Chris510 is obviously and old hand at trail/enduro type riding and fitted in really well, taking his turn at any place in the pack and showing his confidence on board the big yellow and blue machine. BMWbeej knows how to ride but found the slippery conditions a bit trying occasionally. At one point while riding just in front of me in a straight line, his back wheel past the front one and he laid it down hanging on to the bike and sliding along the track a fair distance. That was not his only off for the day.

Unfortunately for the other new guy, Choko (Sam), he needs a little more time in the saddle picking up his riding skills before he will be ready for a gnarly, slippery run over lots of shiny wet rocks and wash outs at CQ pace. He had a small off early into the ride and snapped off his brake lever and then struggled over a few of the hills before he decided he might hold the group up. He returned to his car and we will catch him on another ride in the near future.

There were a lot of offs today but usually to pick up the award you need not only to have a decent one but also for someone to see it. Quite early into the ride Adrian dropped his front wheel into a washout and came down in a big way just in front of KXSteve and myself. He had a minor thumb injury and knocked his bars forward but it didn't take him long to sort things out and get back on the gas. Well done - that's a SOTD award.

Along the way we picked up John tearing around the scrub by himself who ended up leading us up and down the stream. I think he was just looking for a ride point. Good to see you John and thanks for the offer of the extra fuel.

KXSteve who really needs a name change started off riding sweep and the new electric leg smoker. Later on with a few offers from others to take over the position he got into the pack and put the new machine through its paces. He nearly had a big off himself by charging over a crest just to find himself landing in a nice deep rut that nearly took him out.

All the other guys had their moments. There was plenty of talk about how the rear wheel would try to over take you once you backed off the throttle in the slippery mud. I actually managed a full 180 on one corner and Steve asked me later why had turned around and was going back. I didn't bloody mean too!!!!!!

Thanks to all the other guys who help make a great days ride and excellent one. Lets hope it stays wet for a while.

Check out this face (Choko) - You may never see him again. LOL

Chris510 - This guys ridden before we think !!!!

BMWbeej - Watch this guy - He rides straight past you when you are on cornerman and doesn't tell you he is the last rider. LOL Don't worry- We will get him back!!!!!

Back at the cars after the ride.
