Powerlines
After a late start and the absence of the rider that called the ride we headed off. The start was like most other rides I'd been on with Crusty's except with one crucial element, nobody actually knew where to go. Comments like "I've been here a few times but I don't have any sense of direction" were heard around the car park Now on the move, finding the powerlines was easy, getting to the creek was a little more challenging. Rocco did an excellent job leading the pack and finding the creek, and Davidm went sweep. Once at the creek Rocco instigated a cigarette break and a summary of what to expect in the creek and that we should be aware of not drowning our bikes. The route through the creek was an awesome example of how to make a ride entertaining. Bit of mud, loads of water and a few steep, short climbs out of the creek were well received.
After a play in the mud and a few slips and slides, bikes and bodies were picked up, nothing broken, body or bike. We headed back in the direction of the cars. Reaching the powerlines we picked up the pace. Couple of the guys decided to have a second attempt at one of the hills. While waiting at the top the other riders met a lone rider that spoke stories of a lost Crusty rider combing the hills in search of the rest of the herd. |
