Col always says "Call it and they will come". The Grunta through up two lines a week ago on the message board basically saying to meet at the Lakes Road House at 7.00. I pulled into the car park at 6.55 to find what looked like a full on T & E event about to kick off. As well as the 18 regular CQer's there were also 5 newbies. Bikes were loaded on trailers, utes and carriers on the back of 4 x 4's with the riders all standing around talking about how good the day was going to be.

By 7.05 we were off to a secret location to kick off the day. After trying to push start Choko several times with his key turned off, Rocco got him fired up with tow start. It's always about Choko!!!!!

Grunta lead the ride down the creek but quickly returned to his ute once he realized he had left his keys on the back of the ute. He rejoined in the group in a jiffy and we were off again. The dust was thick and the temperature started to pick up but what else would we expect for a hills ride at the start of January. At the odd regroup there was all sorts of stories about falling into holes, hitting trees, hugging grass trees (black boys) and simply falling off.

One of the new guys looked a bit worse for the wear with a bloody nose and a few cuts.

Col Mac rode down the back today for a change taking on the important role as sweep. I gave him the ROTD for sucking everyones dust. Just leaving the big mud hole I looked over my shoulder and saw Choko sitting there in the middle of the muck. It was actually just an accident but my clutch slipped and throttle twisted which resulted in a pretty muddy DRZ!!!

Choko decided to get me back at the next regroup and tried the same approach but in dry dusty sand. The fine black particles of sand missed me all together and filled in several others, particularly Pounce who was right in the firing line. I can see some big pay backs there fellows.

Good to see Craig out for a ride, it has been awhile. Its also just good to ride with a top bunch of riders. I asked Adrian at the end of the ride if it was the best one he had ever been on. For the first time ever he said it wasn't among the best he had ever had. Thanks to Grunta for calling the ride and leading us on a top loop. Anyone who has ridden those trails in the winter knows just how great they are. Come on the wet!!!!
