Eleven starters today including two new guys relfy and ktm peter, all keen for a spring dash up the coast to wedge. The heavy fog on the way up was as good as ive seen and with holiday traffic made the trip interesting at times. In the end however there wasn't any real need to rush as we were greeted on the lano gate by the local ranger who wasn't letting any bikes in before 8am. By 7.45 the queue of bike trailers was growing as was the restless crowd that had gathered to debate his stance. He fought valiantly but in the end took cover on the proviso no start up till 8.

In hindsight even that small win wasn't really necessary as two or three more senior crusties, who should know better about setting the right example - especially on a beginners ride - arrived late and without plausible excuse. LOL. After a welcome to Relfy and Peter and with the pre ride talk done we finally headed off , albeit a bit late.

Col lead us out via the inland trails which were firm and fast and the pack moved at a decent pace. First regroup all was good with all happy and still in one piece. Although I didnt see it, steve admitted to having a bit of a ly down on the way but nothing too serious. A few new obstacles in gates and wire fences greeted us as we approached the new road but col and wrex had all the answers and on we went. Not far on wrex hit the dirt after clipping one of the boys back wheel - saw the clearing dust but missed that one to - SOTD?. Then to keep us on our toes, not far on, a half dozen or so deep v shaped ditches had been dug across a track with a bulldozer - quite dangerous really - as was avoiding the beach hoons but we did and pulled up in the usual spot for a rest.

Not far back out of town wrex calls a stop and suggests we take the main track home as he's concerned about roleys sore knee. The group however quickly saw through wrex's blame placing and the truth about his low fuel situation apologetically came to the fore. The ride home was as quick as the dust would allow with a few 4wd's to keep it interesting. Relfys off on the way home the only incident im aware of. Both he and peter fitted in real well with the crusty way and they said enjoyed the ride.

Thanks Col mc for leading an enjoyable ride and roley for another superb sweep effort
