Fingers Pops a Rim
The action started a bit earlier than expected with Fingers managing to disintegrate a wheel on his car on route to the park spot. Never seen that before - bits of mag everywhere. Bet that scared the shit out you hey Fingers. Jerremy's first ride with the crusties.
Probably fortunate only 4 of us today as the dust was pretty full on and without any wind it just lingered. The loose plan was to head north and see if we could find a creek bed or two with a bit of water. As it turned out heading north was a lot easier than finding water. We did however find a couple of decent mud holes which Andy thought would be a good place to test crusty mateship. He was stuck good and proper and the only option was for all of us to get in and get dirty. Ah there's just nothing better than male bonding in putrid black sticky gluk up to your knees. The ride was heavy on pea gravel and jump out and kill ya rocks but no offs seen or admitted to - no SOTD award this trip. Heaps of fantastic single trail, a lot of it real tight and bermy. Throw in a bit of up and down rutty stuff and the days all but made. Late in the ride the boys managed to lose the sweep. Took a while for it to dawn on me that there was no dust, hadn't been for a while. Sat there for a bit, just me and the magpies, the shadows getting longer and longer. Panic started to set in, important questions flooding my mind - how many smokes left in the packet- is NCIS on tonight - what would Roley do. All ended happily soon after. Revenge planning has commenced. Andy earns ROTD for putting together another top ride and for not flinching all day when quizzed if he knew where we were. Thanks guys      |
