Came away from this ride thinking, “did I make a deal with the devil or what” or some thing like that. It was frigging awesome. The northern hills and Mother Nature had combined and produced some of the best riding platform and with some great company everything was perfect.

Also got me thinking, “were the hell is everyone?” and “Wish you were here!”

Most important riders meet and corner man system discussed and were off. My normal twisty creek bed is full about 4’ deep so of to some hilly single trail Mick450 taught me. I take the easier path on the Big Dipper and Christo, Jase and Carl ace it first crack. Mmm, got some good riders here, better crank it up a notch.

Cruise some faster wider tracks in search of HusqM’s “Brutal Track” as he called it but end up coming at it the wrong way and it’s the Big One hill for play time. As I point to the hill and fill the guys in on some CQ history (Wrex’s epic attempts at the impossible run) Christo ready and inspired and wants a go. Straight up, followed by Carl, followed by Jase. Now I have to go . Video on and wrap it on. Surprise at how much traction there is today and make it almost all the way but do the same flipping dance Wrex did in nearly the same spot. No damage, just laughs. Off down the Brutal track and onto “Dummy Spit” hill. Again the boys play for a while with multiple goes.

Water is calling so it’s down to the river where Christo makes a new path with a jump into the creek. I mark a dangerous rock under the water line and Carl also makes the new path his own. Totally soaking by now we head off along the creek, weaving in and out for miles on great single trail, a normally sandy track in covered with 6” of flowing water that makes for a sweet ride back to the river spot.

Out on some faster tracks now and a near hit that I’ll put myself up for SOTD just to remind me to take it easy. About 80kph and on a slight bend I spot a rider coming the other way at similar speed. Both on the brakes hard but the pea gravel make steering hard and we clip each other. No harm done and we meet and great, wait for his mate to pass and its back on the gas.

Of to the Wiggles section on great single track that seems to go on forever, up, down, left, right, log, hill, rocks and five minutes of that and it stuffs with your mind in the end and a quick rest up to restore balance. Mud Track. The videos can only do this justice so have a look. No need to go that way ever but for Fun! Carl doesn’t seem as amused as the rest of us.

Back at the cars and 85ks of the best. ROTD is a hard one to pick as everyone has given it a great go but Christo just pips it for me as the initiator of many a challenge.
